Originally on: ABC (60 min.)
Status: New Series Premiered: January 1, 2007 Show Categories: Drama, Action/Adventure ![]() ![]() Jay, Tyler and Will were friends who had spent the last two years in grad school living together. They were about to go on a summer journey, but a simple prank to rollerblade through one of New York's most famous museums made Jay and Tyler prime suspects in a terrorist bombing that destroyed the museum a few seconds later. Jay and Tyler hoped that Will could clear their name, but discovered that they had no way of proving Will ever existed. The F.B.I. reported that a man matching Will's description was found dead at the bombing site, and that the bombing was triggered by a call from Jay's cell phone, leading Jay and Tyler to believe that Will may have set them up. Now Jay and Tyler are on the run from the F.B.I. and must get to the bottom of the conspiracy that has destroyed their lives.

Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X19[转自YDY]1X19: LIVE ALONE AND LIKE IT 1.Mary Alice Voiceover: Every morning as she went to take out the trash, Lynette Scavo would indulge in a little daydream. The details of which were always the same. Indulge:to yield to the desire of(常与in连用)放任;沉溺... daydream:白日梦 2.Mary Alice Voiceover: The families would form an everlasting friendship, culminating in their daughters marrying her sons at an elaborate wedding-the Scavos would not have to pay for. Everlasting:continuing long or indefinitely永恒的, 持久的, 无止境的, 耐用的 culminating:to reach its highest altitude到绝顶的, 终极的, 最后的elaborate:精心制作的, 详细阐述的, 精细 3.Mary Alice Voiceover: Life is a journey. One that is much better travelled with a companion by our side. But sometimes we lose our companions along the way and then the journey becomes unbearable. 4.Noah: Her body had been stuffed inside a toy chest. Can you believe that? A kids toy chest? She's been dismembered. 5.Noah: There's a cop I want you to talk to- cop:{俚语}警官, 巡警 6.Porter: Mommy, the line's not moving. 7.Susan: You just broke up with Morty two weeks ago. Don't you think you could at least pretend to mourn the relationship. It's called moving on with your life. 8.Sophie: What? Oh, you can pull it off. pull it off:做成,成功 9.Mrs McClusky: Keep it, it's genuine Tiffany. Been in my family for years. 10.Gabrielle: No, 'cos if I leave then I'll be broke, and that would be awful. And if I stay he'll be in control and that's horrifying. And he cut up all my credit cards, which means I'm married to him and unable to shop, which is probably the worst of all possible worlds. I'll be broke:破产的意思。 11.Mrs McClusky: Hi there. I brought you some avocados. I have a tree out back but I don't like them and your family seems like the kind that would eat guacamole. Avocado:鳄梨 guacamole:pureed or mashed avocado seasoned with condiments 12.Mrs McClusky: Oh, that's great, 'cos my cars on the fritz and I could hitch a ride. I need to drop by the pharmacy anyway. 13.Mrs McClusky: Save it, Lynette. I get the picture. Save it:得了吧,省省力气 I get the picture:我明白你什么意思了 14.Bree: About four weeks old. I never told you this, but when I gave birth to you, there were complications. The umbilical chord wrapped around your neck and you stopped breathing. The room got very quiet, and I knew you were in trouble. So I turned to the doctor and I very calmly said that he was not to worry about me, that his job was to save your life. When I say I would die for you, that's not just an expression. I mean it. 15.Andrew: Look, I love vanilla ice-cream, but every now and then I'm probably gonna be in the mood for chocolate. You know what I mean? 16.Reverend: I'm afraid I don't follow. Mary Alice Voiceover:You see, human beings are designed for many things. But loneliness is not one of them Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X18[转自YDY]1X18: CHILDREN WILL LISTEN 1.Mary Alice Voiceover: There were many things Gabrielle Solis knew for certain- She knew red was her colour. She knew diamonds went with everything.-And she knew men were all the same-But the one thing Gabrielle knew above all else - she would never want children...Unfortunately for Gabrielle, her husband Carlos felt differently. red was her colour:意思是GABY穿红色的衣服最好看。Diamond:钻石 go with:搭配 2.Mary Alice Voiceover: Yes, Gabrielle Solis knew without a doubt she didn't want to be a mother. But what she couldn't know was just how much her husband wanted to be a father or that he had been tampering with her birth control for months. Or that in one week's time she would be pregnant. birth control:control of the number of children born especially by preventing or lessening the frequency of conception,金山上解释为节制生育,这里解释避孕更好些我觉得。Pregnant:怀孕 3.Rex: What's Andrew going to think if you don't show up? show up:出现 4.Lynette: Because I'm having drinks with friends I used to work with and they never call and if I blow them off that's it. I'm dead to them. No, I can't call Patty Binks, because she steals things. Dammit, Christy, you're thirteen years old, you've got a lot of trips to the mall ahead of you. Ok, ok, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I raised my voice, I'm calm. I'm starting to think this is about money so what is it that'll make it worth your while? A hundred? That's extortion, there's no way in hell that I'm gonna. Hello, hello? Used to do sth :过去常常做某事 blow them off:不去负约,放鸽子 dammit:口头语,骂人的话。Extortion:the act or practice of extorting especially money or other property敲诈,勒索。 5.Carlos: No, the right decision was to use that money for my lawyers. We could have fought the indictment and then I wouldn't have had to take the plea bargain. plea bargain:the negotiation of an agreement between a prosecutor and a defendant whereby the defendant is permitted to plead guilty to a reduced charge 6.Carlos: Eight months! Thanks to you I'm going away for eight months. thanks to:不是感谢的意思,是由于,因为的意思。 7.Sophie: You know me, no depth perception whatsoever. The state shouldn't have issued me a license. license:这里只的是驾驶执照,听一个在美国的朋友说,在美国考驾驶执照很容易,给你辆车,自己开,开一段路,然后拐个弯靠边停下后就PASS了,不象我们国内要培训2个月,再参加各种考核,例如测方移位,大、小路的考试。 8.Lynette: Please hear me out, this is important. Today I have a chance to rejoin the human race for a few hours, there are actual adults waiting for me with margaritas. Look I'm in a dress, I have make up on. Margarita:a cocktail consisting of tequila, lime or lemon juice, and an orange-flavored liqueur in a dress:盛装出席 make up:化妆 9.Tom: He was misbehaving, she had to do something. B-but make no mistake, she definitely crossed the line. 10. Mary Alice Voiceover: Children come into the world with their own agendas-Some to brighten our days-Some to test our patience- Some to give us purpose-Some to take care of us-Yes, when they come children change everything-Especially when they're not invited. Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X17[转自YDY]Episode 01.17 - There Won't Be Trumpets 1. Mary Alice Voiceover:"Gus, the custodian, dreams of someday winning the lottery and quitting his thankless job." 2. Rex: "I can't believe it. Two months from graduation and he gets expelled." Bree: "You know we are just lucky that that security guard did not press charges." Get expel:开除 press charge:上诉 3. Bree: "They're brochures for youth detention centers." Carlos: "I like the Lexington mahogany with gold leaf. It comes with a pink velvet interior and drapes. Plus it's hand-engraved so in case of a flood or earthquake, they'll at least be able to know which one is hers." Mahogany:桃花心木;红木 hand-engraved:手工雕刻 in case of:万一 5.Gabrielle: "Don't you think that's a little over the top?" over the top:extremely or excessively flamboyant(辉耀的, 华丽的)or outrageous 6.Susan: "Yes. What if it just a bunch of far-fetched stories." far-fetched:brought from a remote time or place,金山里面的解释是牵强的, 不自然的 7.Bree: "You no longer get an allowance." 8.Rex: "The next time you touch your mother like that, I'm gonna throw you through this wall! You understand me?" 9. Tom: "It was a close call." close call: Mary Alice Voiceover:"We all honor heroes for different reasons. Sometimes for their daring...Sometimes for their bravery...Sometimes for their goodness...But mostly we honor heroes because at one point or another, we all dream of being rescued(拯救)。Of course, if the right hero doesn't come along, sometimes we just have to rescue ourselves." Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X16[转自YDY]Episode 01.16 - The Ladies Who Lunch 1. Mary Alice Voiceover:"Throughout even the most respectable of neighborhoods, you can hear the sound of scandal..." scandal:丑行,丑闻,诽谤,耻辱,流言蜚语 2. Apparently, she has some high-profile johns, and the D.A.'s looking for a second term." Edie的意思是说,Maisy会因为卖淫而被起诉,DA(即检控官)还有追究第二项指控,即Maisy的神秘嫖客(john,俚语嫖客的意思) 7.Edie: "No, he was lousy in bed. I had to fake a lot of orgasms. You don't have to respond." 8.Lynette: "Here's the thing. Acting like parents won't assign blame is like pretending they don't keep score at pee-wee league games. It's human nature. If you don't give the moms someone to blame, they'll pick a scapegoat. I can't let my boys be the scapegoat." Scapegoat:替罪羊 9.Susan: "I hate 'em all. Look at them just leering at us. They're so damn cocky, like they know they have the upper hand." 结束语:Topher's Birthday Party] Mary Alice Voiceover:"Yes, everyone loves a scandal...no matter how big or small. After all...what could be more entertaining than watching the downfall of the high and mighty? What could be more amusing than the public exposure of hypocritical sinners?Yes, everyone loves a scandal. Rex: "Well, I'm not the only guy in this house that uses that hamper." CONDOM 3. Rex: "He's a teenage boy. We could take away his penis. He'd still try to have sex." take away:取走 penis: 阴茎,男性生殖器,记得以前上英语课的时候,老师说 the pen is 要分开来写,不要写到一起去了,终于明白他的用意了。 4. Mary Alice Voiceover:"Each new morning in suburbia brings with it a new set of lies. Little white lies told not to hurt." A set of :一组,一套 white lie:善意的谎言 5.Lynette: "Honestly, I don't think Mike did it either, but if we don't call, we're guilty of withholding evidence."guilty of sth:有罪,犯过错。 6.Tom: "It just doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, I'm Peterson's go-to guy, so how does Tim Doogan, the biggest blow-hard in the office get promoted to vice president over me?" make sense:有意义 get promoted:获得晋升 promotion:升职,获得提拔 7.Cop: "Up against the car! You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do say can be used against you in a court of law..." 8.Danielle: "Because I'm planning on having sex and I don't want to get pregnant." Pregnant:怀孕 9.Bree: "Oh, sweetheart, just because you give a boy sex doesn't mean you'll get love in return." 10.Gabrielle: "Have you seen our checking account lately? We're broke. And then we have the mortgage payment coming up. We have property taxes.." 11.Tom: "I did. You told me to stop being a shrinking violet and to step up." a shrinking violet:畏首畏尾的人。 Alic’s all right, I guess, but sometimes he’s such a wise guy. I’m sorry to be such a wet blanket, but I’m afraid I have to go home now. 5、an apple polisher 拍马屁者。 You should take much care of him, and he’s a real apple polisher. 6、an ugly customer 粗暴的人。 I’m behind in my work because our office had three groups of visiting firemen this week. Toby may have given you these books, but don’t start celebrating yet. He’s famous for being a Indian giver. Most social climbers are name-droppers. He seems never to know what tiredness is, and he’s really an eager beaver. I used to be a typical mall rat hanging around watching the crowds, especially the girls. But now I join the football club, and I have no time.
a dead pigeon/duck注定要完蛋的人; a gold digger以色相骗取男子财物的女人; a dog in the manger占着茅坑不拉屎的人; a dumb Dora笨女人; a clinging vine依赖男子的女人; a double-crosser背信弃义的人; a good guy善良的人; an autograph hound爱请人签名题字的人; a good Joe大好人; a sore loser一输就恼火的人; a night person夜里活动的人; a penny pincher过分吝啬的人;a straight shooter正直的人; a skirt chaser专门追逐女性的人; a doubting Thomas多疑的人; a wallflower舞会上无人邀请的女子; a clock watcher老是看钟表等下班的人; an early bird早起者。 12. Mary Alice Voiceover:"Yes, each new day in suburbia brings with it a new set of lies. The worst are the ones we tell ourselves before we fall asleep. We whisper them in the dark, telling ourselves we're happy....or that he's happy......that we can change.....or that he will change his mind.We persuade ourselves we can live with our sins.....or that we can live without him.Yes. Each night before we fall asleep we lie to ourselves in a desperate, desperate hope that, come morning, it will all be true." Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X14[转自YDY]Episode 01.14 - Love Is In The Air 1.Mrs. McCluskey: "Look. What? Nothing more to say? Cat got your tongue? You listen to me. Keep your brats off my property." 2.Susan: "Well, whatever it was, that boy is seriously disturbed, and I've forbidden Julie from hanging out with him." Forbid sb from sth: 3.Lynette: "You're capable of doing all sorts of things."Be capable of doing sth:有能力做某事 4.Paul: "Oh my god. I uh, had a standing order with the florist. I forgot to cancel it. Mary Alice was my wife. She passed away a few months ago." 今年当花店送来了花他才意识到是情人节,晕啊,到底PAUL爱MARY ALICE么? 5.Gabrielle: "No, Mikki, you're wrong. I wasn't acting like a diva. I left the boat show because that coordinator was making passes at me. It's not my fault." diva:歌剧中的首席女主角 make pass at sb:调戏某人。 6.Lynette: "Well, we could go with the old hickory stick. It's a cliché, but it's pretty effective. I know, we'll go with the spatula. The holes give it less wind resistance. Moves faster." Mary Alice Voiceover:"It's impossible to grasp just how powerful love is...it can sustain us through trying times......or motivate us to make extraordinary sacrifices.....it can force decent men to commit the darkest deeds.....or compel ordinary women to search for hidden truths.....and long after we're gone, love remains burned into our memories. We all search for love, but some of us, after we found it, wish we hadn't." Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X13[转自YDY]Episode 01.13 - Your Fault 1.Mary Alice Voiceover:"Of course, it was easy for Susan to feel smug with a daughter like Julie. She always brought home straight A's." straight: 直的, 诚实的 这里是全部都是A 2. Julie: "Mom, I know you saw us kissing, but you've got to chill now." chill:原意是寒冷的意思,got to chill有冷静的意思,没什么大不了的,同等于be cool / calm down 3. Helen: "Hello, Gabrielle. I don't believe you've met my husband, Bob." 4. Bob Rowland: "John surprised us last night when he announced he was turning down his college scholarship." Helen Rowland: "Statutory rape thing." 6. Gabrielle: "I'm sorry. I, I'm so sorry, I just can't handle this right now. I have my own personal things going on. My life is falling apart." fall apart:崩溃, 土崩瓦解 7.Tom: "Look who I found wandering around the airport!" wander: 8.Lynette: "I'm so happy to see you. It's such a shame that Alison couldn't make it." 9. Rodney: "Oh, can I give it a shot?" 10. Rodney: "Parker. I've got a question for you. It's only one, but it's kinda an important question. A character defining question, actually. 11.Lynette (to herself): "I'm not the one who forgot my mitt." 12.Lynette: "Well, for starters, you can wipe that disgusting smirk off your face." But the good news is, there are no signs that she had been molested. Now, I think it's time that you return to your homes, to your loved ones. Mary Alice Voiceover:"To understand Maisy Gibbons, you first need to know how she spent her afternoons. Her mornings were spent running errands for her husband. Maisy: "Anyway, a couple of months later, I started my little hobby...and the most wonderful thing happened. This woman's husband became one of my regulars." 没有想到居然会是REX,不过自仔细想想还是有可能的,记得BREE说过一句话“We haven't had sex for months, Rex. Most normal, red-blooded men would be climbing the walls by now." 4. Judge Sullivan: "Bring me the passport, and Mr. Solis can visit his mother. Until then, your client is denied bail and remanded. 5. Lynette: "You better finish those brussel sprouts. And don't think I can't see them hidden under your macaroni." brussel sprouts:一种蔬菜吧,我在网上查了下,国内好象没有的。 Don’t think I can’t….. 6. Susan: "Oh, no good. My publisher's got me under the gun for something. What about Friday?" under the gun:在严密监视之下,SUSAN的意思是她的出版商急着让她交稿,SUSAN是画儿童图书插画的,这应该都知道吧。 7. Lawyer: "Gabrielle, listen. Mary Alice Voiceover:"Gabrielle was waiting for her next great idea. Her first great idea came when she was fifteen, after her stepfather paid her a late-night visit. She bought a bus ticket to New York the very next day. Her next occurred five years later when she decided to seduce a famous fashion photographer. One week later, she began her career as a runway model, which soon led to her next great idea--her decision to marry Carlos Solis. Before she knew it, she had jumped off the runway and moved to the suburbs. Her most recent great idea was born out of her boredom with her new life. That's how she came to start an affair with her teenage gardener, which was cut short by a tragic accident. So once again, Gabrielle was in need of a great idea." 2. Gabrielle: "My life. It hasn't turned out like I thought it would." Turn out /turn out to be: to prove to be in the result or end结果是,原来是 3. Mary Alice Voiceover:"She decided to throw the first annual Sacred Heart Charity Fashion Show, to raise money for more nursing staff." Raise money for sth:为。。。。 4. Mary Alice Voiceover:"As a child, she felt guilty about not getting straight "A"s... ..As a teenager, she felt guilty about letting her boyfriend go to second base... ...As a newlywed, she felt guilty about taking three weeks to get out her thank-you cards... ..she knew the transgressions of her past were nothing compared with the sin she was about to commit." Newlywed:a person recently married 2. Andrew: "Maybe I could go to Canada, you know, until the statute of limitations is up." statute of limitations:A definition from Law.com extensively defines the Statute of Limitations (SOL) as: "a law which sets the maximum period which one can wait before filing a lawsuit, depending on the type of case or claim. The periods vary by state. Federal statutes set the limitations for suits filed in federal courts. If the lawsuit or claim is not filed before the statutory deadline, the right to sue or make a claim is forever dead (barred). In short, the Statute of Limitations (as far as debt is concerned) is the amount of time a creditor has to sue you to receive what you owe them. Each state has its own time frame for a Statute of Limitation. 3. Danielle: "Do you really think mom and dad are going to foot the bill while you go moose hunting for seven years?" foot the bill:付款,买单。 Susan: "She's been in a coma ever since she came out of ER. Nobody knows when or even if she'll wake up." 4. Lynette: "Slow down, you jerk, this is a residential neighborhood." jerk: an annoyingly stupid or foolish person your jerk:老美常用来骂人的话。 5. Lynette: "It pisses me off. I've got four kids, you know. 6. Lynette: "An innocent woman gets hit by a car and the driver just takes off? I don't think it's extreme." 7. Gabrielle: "You should go home and get some rest, eat something. You have a ton of messages from work--Tanaka called; said it was urgent. Carlos, I can stay here with your mother." 与a tone of很相象的还有thanks a million,就表示感谢的意思,但多了个million,也是夸张的手法。 8. Carlos: "And what if she dies? People slip into comas all the time and never come out." 9. Martha: "That's it! I can put up with your debauchery and your food theft, but I will not tolerate spying. I want you out." Put up with=tolerate:都是忍受的意思。 10. Lynette: I hope this works. My sleep cycle is totally out of whack. I'm up all night, I'm dozing off during the day." out of whack:out of proper order or shape 11. Dr. Chang: "I'm not licensed to write prescriptions." 12. Dr. Chang: "This will put you right to sleep. It's a very powerful herbal remedy. Now promise me you're going to use it judiciously?" herbal:草药 remedy:治疗 13. Andrew: "Whatever. I'm off the hook." off the hook 1 : out of trouble 2 : free of responsibility or accountability 14. Lynette: "That's what's so humiliating. Other moms don't need help. Other moms make it look so easy. All I do is complain." Susan: "That's just not true. When, when Julie was a baby, I, I was out of my mind almost every day." Bree: "I used to get so upset when Andrew and Danielle were little. I used their nap times to cry." Lynette : "Why didn't you ever tell me this?" Bree: "Oh, baby. Nobody likes to admit that they can't handle the pressure." Susan: "I think it's just that we think that it's easier to keep it all in." Lynette: "Well, we shouldn't. We should tell each other this stuff." Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X07[转自YDY]Episode 01.07 - Anything You Can Do 1.Mary Alice Voiceover:"Competition. It means different things to different people. In Suburbia, it means keeping up with the Jones's. On Wisteria Lane, that means keeping up with Bree Van de Kamp. Everyone knew Bree had the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. And no one begrudged her this. No one, that is, except Martha Huber, whose own lawn paled in comparison. No matter how carefully she trimmed... ...or how lovingly she watered... ...or how generously she fertilized... ...the grass was always greener on the other side of the fence." Keep up with: 跟上,不落后 begrudge:妒忌,羡慕 trim:整理,修正 fertilized:施肥 2. Mary Alice Voiceover:"Then one day, Mrs. Huber finally got the chance to mow down the competition." I had this gig once, tracking down this PTA mom, was hell-bent on landing her daughter a spot on the parade float. Fed anti-freeze to half the homecoming committee." Van: 有篷货车 gig:原意是旋转物,乘轻便双轮马车,其实这里是a person of odd or grotesque(奇形怪状的人(或物、图案等)) appearance,明白了吧。 7. Would you like me to sponsor you?" sponsor:资助,赞助。 Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X06[转自YDY]Episode 01.06 - Running to Stand Still 1. Mama Solis: "You pay her $300 a week. That's $15,000 a year. Carlos, you always say how you're not putting away enough for retirement!" 2.Carlos: "You know, baby, it would be a good idea if we cut back on expenses." Gabrielle: "You expect me to take care of this place all by myself?" cut back on sth: 缩减 take care of :照顾,照料 3.Paul: "Zach doesn't need a piece of glass to remember his mother. I'm out of newspaper." Paul knows we're on to him." Close to the vest 有很多异体形式, "playing/keeping it close to the/your vest/chest", 但最早它从一个更长地短语演变而来 "playing your cards close to the vest"。 I couldn't afford to give hints...You have to play these things close to your chest。 6. Dr. Sicher: "Mr. Young, I can't just medicate him indefinitely." Paul: "Forget the Freud and stick with the drugs. No new treatments without my permission." 7. Gabrielle: "It turns out your mother is quite the card shark." shark: 8. Mama Solis: "Wait, uh, I'l really in the mood for crab legs. Why don't you just drop me off, and you can come back." in the mood:有兴趣,正在状态 drop off:离开,散去,这里MAMA SOLIS的意思是把我留在这,你去吧。 9. 结束语Mary Alice Voiceover:"The search for power begins when we're quite young. As children, we're taught that the power of good triumphs over the power of evil. But as we get older, we realize that nothing is ever that simple. Traces of evil always remain..." 11-7-2006 Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X05[转自YDY]1X05 - COME IN STRANGER 1.Julie: Wow.Do you think somebody broke in? broke in :破门而入 2.Policeman:You can sign up for either daily or nightly patrols. I know that might seem a bit like overkill, but I assure you. Sign up for:签名同意参加 patrol:巡逻 3.Susan: Actually I do have a question. Do you have a second? Do u have a second:意思是你有时间么? 4.Gabrielle:So why weren't you sitting with Mike tonight? I thought you two were becoming an item. 5.Bree: Oh,please! I would have hosted it myself, only the kids are going away to the mountains tomorrow and there's camping equipment everywhere. 5. Lynette: We need you to recommend Porter and Preston. We can't even get an interview. Bree: Oh,you want me to recommend the twins? Lynette:Yes, you can tell them how beautifully behaved the boys are. Bree: So you want me to lie? Lynette:Yeah. I thought that was understood. Bree: It's just that I'm very well respected at Barcliff, and my word won't be good there anymore. Lynette:Yes, but by the time they realise their mistake we'll be in. Lynette:You're not having any more kids. What do you care? Bree: Well,I had hoped someday to get my grandchildren into Barcliff. But I suppose that doesn't matter to you, does it? Lynette: It really doesn't. 6. Mama Solis:I came to visit my son and daughter in law. What does it look like? 7. 8. 7.Lynette:Yes. Completely identical. You can't tell them apart. They're like bookends. 9. Tom: Yeah, they bark and growl at each other。 还记得TOM有次说他们养了对terrorists(恐怖分子)么? 10. Rex: Honey,I know it's hard to hear, but the marriage counselling may not work out. You need to get used to being alone. Get used to :习惯做某事 used to do :过去常常做某事 11.Officer Thompson: I just came by to tell you that I took your evidence into the lab for fingerprints. 12.Susan: Oh!Uh, you seem like a really sweet guy, in an interesting line of work. But I um I'm not really available. 如果你想约谁出去,就可以这么说“ARE U AVAILABLE ?” 13.Officer Thompson: So you're really turning me down? Boy, my self esteem can't take this. Turn me down:让我很尴尬,很难堪。 14. Mike: I screwed up. I broke into the Fome house and almost got caught. Screwed up:弄糟 事情没办成 get catch:被抓 Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X04[转自YDY]1X04: WHO'S THAT WOMAN? 1. Teacher: I hesitate in brining this up, seeing as you got so ugly about it the last time. 2. Teacher: We can try that. But if it doesn't work, we may no longer be able to accommodate them. 3. Gabrielle: That doesn't make any sense. I've seen her driver's licence, it does not say Angela. driver's licence:驾驶证件,在北美,驾照就代表了你的身份,他们没有什么身份证之类的东西,就只有驾照,其实和身份证一样有姓名,年龄,住址,电话等。 4. Susan: We've all sort of felt it. 5. Julie: I still don't understand why you don't just ask him out on an "official date" Ask sb out:约某人出去,约会的意思。 6. Susan: Well, she's bringing out the big guns. 7. Mrs Huber: What has she done this time? Edie: She is out there throwing herself at Mike Delfino. Again! Mrs Huber: Susan likes Mike? Edie: Where the hell have you been, Martha? She's been lusting after him since he moved in. 8. Mrs Huber: I can't wait for you to try this, it's mincemeat. 9. Mrs Huber: Oh, lord! Susan, you burned you love rival's house down! If that isn't desperate I don't know what is. 10. Susan: I think I'm being blackmailed.blackmail:勒索 11.Susan: Julie, I don't think they'll throw me in jail. I mean, it was an accident. 12.Julie: Dad won't care if it was an accident. You know he'll just use this as an excuse to reopen custody. Mom, I don't want to live with dad. 13.Mike: Well, it's a limited engagement and it's sold out. I only got two tickets. Limited engagement:限量的意思,sold out:全不卖完,售完的意思 Desperate Housewives 学习笔记1X03[转自YDY]1X03: PRETTY LITTLE PICTURE 1. MARY ALICE: So, Susan, I was just telling the girls I wanna throw a dinner party. PARTY。 2. CARLOS: I'm trying, but I can't guarantee anything. This is business! 3. GABRIELLE: Says the prince as he rides off into the sunset. Boy did the movies ever get that wrong. 4. TOM: You know what? I haven't even had a chance to unpack yet, honey. I just, uh, I just need to chill out for the next few days. Unpack;打开行李 chill out: to calm down/go easy/relax解释放松的,轻松的意思 LYNETTE希望TOM一起去参加DINNER PARTY,但TOM似乎不想去,他解释到我刚出差回来,连行李箱都没打开,我只想休息几天。 5. LYNETTE: Oh. Tom. There'll be liquor. And hors d'oeuvres. And grown-ups without children. And, and silverware. Remember silverware? Liquor:含酒精的饮料 hors d'oeuvres:一眼就应该知道是法语单词,any of various savory(开胃的菜)foods usually served as appetizers。 6. TOM: Yeah, honey, I'm sorry. I'm just, I'm wiped out. Three cities in 6 days, my head is just pounding. I'm not ready for a dinner party. LYNETTE: I already got a sitter. TOM: Can you cancel her? Please? Look, let's just stay in tomorrow night. We can get a bottle of wine, and rent a video, and I just wanna hang out with my best gal. That's all. LYNETTE: I was looking so forward to a night out. wiped out:精疲力竭的 sitter:代人临时看管小孩的人 hang out:和某人在一起,出去闲逛的意思。Be look forward to : ,盼望做什么,长久以来的愿望。 7. BREE: My backhand's improving immensely, but you're still having problems with your serve. 8. JULIE: I found my dental guard. I' m ready. 9. SUSAN: Yeah, well you just go to hell.SUSAN的这句话绝对常用,当某人在生气时常会这么说,意识是你去见上帝吧或者是你去见鬼吧 10. ZACH: Mrs. Formington said she looked for Mum's obituary, couldn't find it. Did you put one in? obituary: 讣告 常用词组:put in an obituary. 11. LYNETTE: You know what, it's not gonna change until you resolve your issues with that man. SUSAN: What, you mean forgive him? LYNETTE: Yeah. SUSAN: You know, I've lived with this bitterness so long, I think I'd be lonely without it. 12. SUSAN: Thanks for helping me break in. Do you think it's gonna be hard to replace that screen? break in:闯入, 打断,这里是指MIKE帮SUSAN把房门弄开了(SUSAN把自己锁在屋外了) 13. BREE: If everybody would please take your seats. Dinner is served. 14. SUSAN: Okay, I gotta break the ice here. So you're in counselling, big deal. You want humiliation? I'll give you humiliation. I locked myself out of my house stark naked and got caught by Mike. break the ice:打破沉默 gotta :典型的美国俚语 (=have got to) 必须 15. LYNETTE: When Tom and I were first married, things got a little out of hand on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. 16. MIKE: You mean, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw soda cans? 17. TOM: We are raising little terrorists, you know that, don't you? SUSAN: Don't worry, I'm not packing heat. packing heat:火上浇油 18. SUSAN: I'll be quick. Brandy, I'm sorry for the way I treated you. It was uncalled for, and childish, and it won't happen again. I have built up a lot of anger towards you, both of you, and I realise now that I just can't carry that around anymore. So, apology or no apology, I'm moving on. uncalled for:不必要的,不适当的,没有理由的。I'm moving on. 19. DR. GOLDFINE: I'm very sorry to hear that, but unfortunately, I'm completely booked right now. |
